translations in music

Matthias has a long track record of music-related activities.

In Berlin, he was, as a classically trained pianist, member of Holger Münzer's political cabaret group Theater Café Größenwahn. Later, he set up the duo Brima Vista with singer B. Mentz, performing programs of vocal music by, among others, Hans Eisler, Ernst Krenek and Arthur Honegger.

At the Tango Department of the Rotterdam Conservatory CODARTS, he was engaged in various activities, studying the bandoneón with Leo Vervelde and Carel Kraayenhof, acting as an assistant to the artistic director, Argentinian composer and pianist Gustavo Beytelmann, and setting up a new subject, 'Tango History', for which he developed teaching and audio resources, also involving the translation of Spanish language material into English. He conducted the course for several years as a guest lecturer.

He did a two-year stint playing the bandoneón in the Tango orchestra Amago with performances in The Netherlands and abroad.

In recent years, Matthias has combined his passion for music and for languages, bringing his specialized knowledge to the translation of music-related books and texts.
